An excellent tool, and certainly a step forward in reducing piracy and a
revolutionary new way of distributing music. Top this off with versions
available for cell phones, and it's a fantastic piece of kit.
The only critisms I have of the software is that the ad durations are
sometimes remarkably long (I've had an ad last 30 seconds) and while I
understand that it is necessary to keep the service running, ads should not be
that long. As well as this, the frequency of ads appears to vary from once every
10 tracks to every track, which is strange.
The user-interface isn't fantastic, but it's functional. Again on the ad
front, while I have no problem with the side-banners and short audio ads, I DO
have a problem with the ones that take up the entire Spotify window, blocking
song switches.
And the last downfall I have is that Spotify has a limited selection of
certain artists in the UK. Many bands are restricted to US only. However, I
understand that this problem is not necessarily in Spotify's hands, and as of
late this has improved remarkably. New releases are practically instantly
added.
Overall, a fantastic piece of kit with a few little niggles here and there
that most users will not notice or care about.

It's a brilliant piece of software, with an ever-expanding range of music.
Occasionally you can listen to new releases a week or so before they're in the
shops. The interface is easy to use and the streaming works very cleverly so
there's no lag between pressing play and the music starting.
Great product that features an even greater mobile product. They may have
finally cracked the elusive feature that will turn free customers into paying
customers.
Only downside is their catalogue still needs some work, but that's being
added to on a weekly basis.
This will change it all in the long run hopefully. If you really sit and
think about it, most people today listen to music off their computers or their
iPods/iPhones. Spotify is made for that, giving access to this ever growing
selection.
In the long run it does mean only having to buy music of artists you really
want, and just streaming the rest when and if you choose. No more losing hard
drive space it a breath of fresh air.
Here's hoping they're not a flash in the pan, and represent a new model that
can truly work.
