The 60th most popular adventure/RPG game on Windows

A first-person shooter computer game, where the action takes place one year prior to the events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Stalker: Clear Sky has its good points and bad points. One the one hand its a much more polished game. The A.I. Is insanely better at tactical combat, especially when it comes to flushing you out of cover with grenades... The UI is much more streamlined. Graphics are improved and the overall game play is much more realistic. On the other hand, the story is very linear and the game, after the latest patch 1.5.07 still suffers from some serious bugs. It doesn't make it unplayable, but almost. and finally the liner game play and some of the story decisions don't play out very well and you feel as though they didn't spend enough time fleshing it out. The end is a disaster as it can be difficult to complete.

I loved the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and this 'prequel' is a disappointment. The first game was serious and downright spine chilling at points, but Clear Sky is less serious.

I loved Shadow of Chernobyl. I really go for the post apocalyptic thing, but Clear Sky was for the most part a huge disappointment.

They packed it full of visual baubles, like volumetric smoke and dynamic wet surfaces. But the novelty quickly wears when you realise the majority of the game is a revisit of SOC, peppered with bugs that the list of patches failed to fix.

Oh, and they removed the most exciting and atmospheric parts of the game. (the labs)

I liked the game, but I agree it has its bugs..and its too linear.. but the interface and AI is much improved..

I had to take it back though because it has an activation limit, and I don't by games with limitations.

In general I would say most people who bought this game before patch 1.5.0.4 was released will be pissed off about the immense amount of bugs. I had major problems with 1.5.0.3 but have only experienced a couple of bugs and crashes with 1.5.0.4, now it runs pretty nice.

Personally though, I had high expectations for this as I loved the first game in the series. Sadly this is a prequel which plays out on the same maps/levels, so nothing new there - what has changed since the previous game is a) new DX 10 features which are stunning, on DX 9 there are also some enhanced graphics/physics, but this comes at an expense: b) Clear Sky has been seriously bugged, lots and lots of issues which makes the game freeze or completely crash. Not especially fun.

The atmosphere is the same as in the previous game, and if you liked that, you will most likely enjoy this as well - though it really feels a lot less secluded. Where in Shadow of Chernobyl you would trek along for hours alone, fight alone against mutants and factions, you will now work for and possibly join lots of factions etc.

    Conclusion:
Buy it if you liked Stalker: SoC, Crysis, Far Cry, or similar games, but make sure to update to newest patch to avoid bugs. The feeling of being alone is less present in this game, but still has some creepy moments and mystique about it.

I don't like this game at all. Seems like its still in beta. Terrible game.
