It was originally developed as a simulator of Konami's popular arcade game series Dance Dance Revolution, and has since evolved into an extensible rhythm game engine capable of supporting a wide variety of rhythm-based game types.
Released under the MIT License, StepMania is free and open source software.
Stepmania was included in a video game exhibition at New York's Museum of the Moving Image in 2005.

Awesome game! If you like Dance Dance Revolution (that dance machines) you will love this game! In this game, you need to follow the music and press the arrows (steps) in the right time. If you have a dance carpet you can plug it on and loose some calories!
Unwieldy with 6gb try 8, then you will see some amazing load times :P
great game... just gets a little unwieldy when you have almost 6gb worth of songs for the game
THE BEST.
Oh yes. It is.
