The 249th most popular configurator on Windows
ShareDesktops allows you to organize your applications on up to four virtual desktops. Read email on one, browse the web on the second, and do work in your productivity software on the third, without the clutter of the windows you’re not using. Different way is not always a better way, multi explorer.exe take more memory usage, can't move/copy any apps to another desktop, you must launch them once more, and if you don't like put all the icons on the desktop...
The program is only 62k, I guess this is only a try by the author. Can't use it anymore.
When I used it, it wasn't very fast at switching. The way you switch is fine but it's not on par with Spaces on OSX. If you're running XP then should be fine for you but on Vista and Windows 7, I think it'll go too slow to be of major use.
Another useful little app from Russinovich & Cogswell. I use it predominantly to group various tasks and projects.
Really simple utility... It uses the Windows Desktop API, not like all the other virtual desktop managers (which hide the windows one by one). What this means is that switching is instantaneous. You don't have to watch the windows disappear one by one even if your machine is working hard at the moment. But there are some drawbacks, applications can't communicate between Desktops, so that you can't have 2 Firefox windows running on 2 different desktops.
It's quite similar to IBDesk (which is now dead).
