Hey, what can you say? It is free and it does the job. I actually used this
to write document my first thesis notes. It is Mac's answer to Wordpad. I use
this everyday to cut, paste, and modify html.
I really cannot complain about the basic text offering included in OSX, it's
more or less the same as notepad on windows. If TextEdit included tabs I would
score it higher on features but as it stands TextEdit is already a daily
staple.
I used Text Wrangler and it was good but if there is anything else better and
easier for me to use, that will be great. Could I use the same text wrangler to
do my CSS?
It just does what it has to do. Better than Windows' Notepad (for example
usable for reading and editing doc-files (usable for text not for decent
formatting)), lightweight, basic.
I hate it when this pops open instead of TextMate, etc.... but this sucker
sure does come in handy where those aren't available. It's hard to insult the OS
supplied text editor because it certainly gets the job done... but it's a far
cry from those supplied by third parties.
Mac's answer to Notepad, simple text editors are great for just about
anything when your are a Network/Systems Administrator like me. Anything from
modifying scripts, HTML content, editing config files and taking down somebody's
name and number when on the phone :-)
Simple texttools like these are essential for me. I have been using textpads
extensively for 20 years. For notetaking, quick lists, html snippets etc. It is
there when you need it, simple and effective. Just like the paper note pad I
always have at hand.
Love it!

Good for to-do lists. :D

Yeah pretty stock.
I like this text editor, it is however very insufficient for other documents types other than .txt
Mac OS自带文本编辑软件~

Yeah like it's name, it just a text editor... I don't think it's as good as word processor.
Аналог вордпада в MacOS.
Если необходимо чиркнуть пару строчек — самое оно.
