Excellent, solid, easy to use, understand and extend and it's fast. What else do you need from an editor!
The simpler, the best. can't eait for thr 2.0 version that is comming. :D Oh, and i love it with the "monokai" theme.
Great editor.
I love Textmate for scripting and web dev. I don't feel comfortable using it for Java development, so I wouldn't be too quick to call this the one size fits all tool. It is great at what it does, it just doesn't do everything.

I've never seen a text editor this nice!
It handles as good as any language you throw at it, and for C++ users such as myself, it has XCode support, it automatically makes Xcode Compile your project and displays error/warning outputs Xcode returns.
In short- it's the best app of it's kind, definitely recommended!

The best texteditor for mac out there. I couldn't imagine using anything else. With such huge support for most kind of markup and the awesome customizability :)
Textmate is simply the slickest text editor for the Mac... though it is a little pricey compared to some equally great freeware found on Windows and Linux. Yet, the same type of freeware on Mac can't hold a candle to Textmate (making it well worth the investment). It's interface can be a little confusing at first... gathering files into a tabbed interface took me a few minutes to unravel, for instance... yet it's not big qualm. Kudos, Textmate!
I wrote my own programming editor many years ago that I used for 1 year period.. then I came by TextMate and it addressed most of the reasons I wanted to make my own editor. For ages the discussion has been emacs vs. vi, both has been surpassed by TextMate. My deepest respect to Allan Odgaard, the author of TextMate.
I don't know a developer that doesn't think that this is really a grreat editor.
For me at least, is one of the most valuable tools in my daily work.
