ShareThe Hit List is marketed as 'a simple, yet sophisticated application to manage the daily chaos of your modern life. Based on the simple concept of making lists, The Hit List lets you plan, forget, then act when the time is right.', and is a task manager for Mac OS X, that is currently in public BETA. It can be used to create to-do lists, plan projects and time tasks. It synchronizes with iCal. Probably one of the best GTD apps out there. Couldn't ask for much more.
Want the iPhone App So badly. This is a fabulous GTD Program. Full featured with the exception of mobile syncing. Buy it before the beta runs out to save the $20.
Best way to track your tasks... I can't wait for the iPhone app!
I've tried a lot of them but this is by far the best TO DO notebook I have ever used!
I got The Hit List as part of the Macheist bundle, and it is by far the best application in there.
Previously, I only used a basic web-based to-do list. Now, I can add my tasks and sub-tasks on numerous lists for each area I work in, estimate the time it will take me so I can plan my day effectively, and time myself on the task so I can see how well I estimated my abilities. The start and end dates make sure I know when everything is due, and there's a really satisfying 'ta-da' noise when you complete a task!
Having used a number of personal task management applications in the past (OmniOutliner, Omnifocus and Things in the past couple of years), I keep going back to a pen and a pad of paper.
The Hit List is the perfect metaphor because it's that pen and paper! I love the index-card metaphor for focusing on one thing, while being able to scribble out lists on a "pad of paper". It allows me to attach information I want to items (sometimes priority, sometimes start date, sometimes due date, sometimes tags) and doesn't make me attach information I don't want to.
I'm still finding a few rough edges in my workflow for sorting/categorising/ordering lists, but that's my workflow, not a fault of the application.
In short, loving it, much more than I ever liked any other GTD-like app.
The Hit List is a great app to keep track of things to do. The interface is pretty intuitive and offers a lot of simple, yet great, features. It was one of my main reasons for getting the Macheist 3 software bundle.
I love The Hit List too. I also agree, after using and buying Omnifocus, Things and another app that I can't remember the name of however, "THL" really fits the way I work and think.
And I love the interface and design. I look forward to new features and the iPhone version which the developers say will happen!!
Great app!
I love 'The Hit List' for task and proejct management. I used OmniFocus, Evernote and Things for that but 'The Hit List' just fit's my mind. During public beta (what's right now) I feel some features are missing, but I'm sure they'll come when version 1.0 comes ot.
This app brought even more structure into my workflows.
Currently it is in private beta. I've only been using it for a few days but so far it seems to be pretty good. Very nice interface. Check it out on google groups and request to get into the beta.
