I figured out a hack for the speed thing. It's a mistake in an ini file.
Just go to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\Sims3.ini and
replace the "Timeslices" section with this:
If you don't believe me/think it will mess up your game, back up your current
Sims3.ini (name it as Sims32.ini) and then try the game and if it messes
something up you can always use the old ini. But trust me, it works.
