Tiny Firewall is one of those few security programs that really protect you against unwanted actions from 3rd party programs without your consent. I pretty much allows you to customize how and when a application can access your file system, registry, memory, and network. Tiny Software was purchased by CA and their intention was to develop a host based intrusion system to replace it. I tried it and was not impressed, it has none of the power and features that Tiny has so I don't see what their goal was. Tiny Firewall can no longer by purchased online and it doesn't run in Vista. 2000/XP only. The default load-out works great when you install it, but at some point you might want to configure it to do something specific, and if you don't have an understanding of network technology it might be difficult for you to configure. It performs great and takes up a moderate amount of resources. In closing I find it to be the best designed security application for application and system operation protection. The only thing it does not have is good protection against online activities and information sharing. You really need to be a power user benefit from this program.
