The most popular file sharer on Mac OS X

Transmission has been built from the ground up to be a lightweight, yet powerful BitTorrent client. Its simple, intuitive interface is designed to integrate tightly with whatever computing environment you choose to use. Transmission strikes a balance between providing useful functionality without feature bloat. Furthermore, it is free for anyone to use or modify.

I used to resort to Vuze (formerly Azureus) for my BitTorrent needs, but it has lately become more and more bloated with each release. Beside that, Vuze is a good example of how *not* to adhere with the Mac OS X user interface guidelines.

Transmission, on the other hand, features a clean and intuitive user interface, friendly dialogs, Growl notifications support, remote management via its web interface or a command-line interface, flexible bandwidth allocation, DHT support, ... all that with a really small CPU and memory footprint.

The only feature still missing as I'm writing this is the support for magnet links, but the development team has scheduled magnet link support for the next release.

If you're looking for an easy to set up, easy to use, and inobtrusive BitTorrent client, look no further!

Transmission is a straight forward BitTorrent client with an easy to use and easy to understand interface. I've used it in OS X, where it was pretty good, and I've used it in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, where it seems to really kick ass. It lets you choose which parts of a torrent you want to download and you can flip through a few screens of stats, like peers, etc. Standard stuff.
