I have been using this software for a number of years and it has become an essential purchase for my compute security. :)
A friend I know well uses this and it always blocks him for harmless sites, he also noticed he somehow managed to get some malware scanned but nothing appeared I told him to try Microsoft Security Essentials since it was lightweight and free and had been rated 2nd in detection rates this year and it found lots of adware, trojans and even a backdoor. Trend Micro has potential but the detection rates and overreactions of blocking websites are stupid this is what they mainly need to fix.
I think it's definitely worth the price, seems to work seamlessly without giving me any excess hassles. A little expensive, but worth it rather than having to clean up my system after a virus.
As previosu poster said, this is eclipsed by a few others, notably NOD32 and also Norton and Kaspersky in my opinion do a better job.
I personally use ESET on most of my computers, and would say that Kapersky would be my second choice, but this came with my Dell XPS. I decided to leave it on there and give it a try, and I haven't been too disappointed. It's certainly a lot better than some of the AV programs I have tried in the past.
It didn't notice a malware on my machine. I was much surprised after running another malware removal tool.
I regret I paid for it. When my license will expire, I'll move to KAV.
Oh so annoying. AVG Free is better, and that's -free-.
Eh...its okay.
Trend is much less intrusive than Norton, but recently it's been blocking webpages that seem to have no real harm to them-- for example, it will NOT let me download LimeWire.
While this may be because some things that it blocks are prone to download malware, I feel that Trend should show a warning rather than completely preventing me from downloading the application.
I find that while Trend Micro is one of the best virus checkers out there, it is gradually turning into what I hated about Norton. Norton was too annoying so I moved onto Trend Micro, but now Trend is blocking websites and applications that have no real problem other than it's own legalities.
I think a virus checker should be based more around security for the user, than to bother witch blocking things that are not actually viruses.
Frustrating lack of expected options.
