In the title of The GIMP page 'Colortoalpha' is placed :(
I don't feel like paying for PS, and I need something to edit pictures with, that has more features then your average picture editing software. GIMP fits that need.
My only complaints are the name, which follows the pattern of most FOSS; meaning it is completely retarded.
Also, this thing can be a beast starting. I have a pretty beefy rig, and it still takes a bit to start.
Overall, who am I to complain when it is free, and pretty damn good.
I don't like the way everything is in a different window. It needs to be all in one window like PS.
Photoshop? No way. I use GIMP for ages, and I'm completely satisfied. The continuous progression GIMP is making is impressive. You don't need more. Free (as in freedom and as beer), fast, tons of functions, layers, filters, plug-ins and a practical gui makes this a great app. Many highly decorated pictures was made with this, even in professional works.
Doesn't slow my computer (which is admittedly on the low-end) as much as photoshop. It can probably do everything that photoshop can do except its implementation is likely not as good. For the simple things, however, it's perfect.
I love The GIMP. All the computers at my school have Photoshop (among the rest of Design Premium CS3), but I use the GIMP for image editing all the time at home.
GIMP is my design world.
Free applications are great and this is pretty fun, though I use Photoshop more this is still great.
love is on windows, but it needs x11 on OS X :(
I love it!
Excellent alternative to Corel Paint Shop Pro
Great free app.
Photoshop killer :P
