Stunning voice quality compared to Teamspeak, not quite Skype but the bevy of codecs and options allow one to make it work with anything. It'd be nice if the licensing were cheaper but for small group discussions it rocks.

I have been using Vent for years now. Simple as can be, and great. Ran a Vent server on a crappy old laptop running Linux, and it worked flawlessly.

yeah, if you get ventrilo, go with darkstarllc.com, no question, they're the best. My clan uses them for Vent and a gameserver and both are awesome.
Use it with some friends for online gaming, and its great.
I really prefer ventrilo over teamspeak!
