The desktop of the future is not a single PC: It's a combination of different devices, multiple platforms, legacy and web-based applications, as well as the end user's data and settings. Give your end users a personalized view of their desktop, applications and data while maintaining centralized control and security. Separate the desktop from the underlying hardware and the applications from the operating system to simplify and reduce the costs of desktop management. Provide a Universal Client Solution with VMware View – where desktops follow the user regardless of device or location.

Does what it is designed for, could improve on the scheduled task, although this maybe introduced with vOrchestrator in v4, have to test it out.
The VMware Infrastucture Client together with the VMware Virtual Center is a world leader in managing virtualised systems. The interface offers a wide range of tools to administer datastores, virtual systems and hosts.
I've been using the Infrastructure Client to manage a server for a local company over VPN, and any network interruptions at all cause the client to disconnect and tell me to login again. This typically happens once every five minutes, causing simple management tasks to be incredibly painful to endure.
With update manager just added to the virtual center, it is amazingly easy to keep esx updated now.
The client does not like any network interruptions and will make you re-login but it is a decent app that rarely freezes for managing all your virtual guests and hosts.
The vCenter Infrastructure Client is free, the part you need to pay is vCenter (which is expensive!)
vm software seems useless to me
Console/Interface for VMWare vCenter or VMWare Infrastructure. Looking forward to the next version.
