VueScan has become an integral part of my routine. Where I find the manufacturer's bundled software to fail (which is often) VueScan patches up the gap. Unlike other commercial scanning software, VueScan allows the use of scanners from different manufacturers without purchasing another license (I'm looking at you, SilverFast!). An area in which VueScan truly shines is in its powerful, detailed settings. I often find myself limited with the bundled offerings, as if the manufacturer is attempting to "protect me from myself". VueScan allows the manual override of such "easy" features and has allowed me to accomplish much more than I would have been able to otherwise.
