I use cmd (with space and long file name interpretation) out of laziness, but
if I'm feeling REALLY hardcore I'll use command.com - 8.3 truly ftw! Far more
powerful than Explorer for the really power-user functions, there's still things
I do daily at a command prompt which would take far more time to accomplish with
the GUI.
And if you don't know what I'm on about, you probably didn't use computers
before Windows 98. Go away. :D
There are many things you can do from command line in Windows much more
quickly than through the GUI, but there are fewer power user tools now than in
the past. This shell is like a castrated version of MS-DOS with long filename
support.
This is the Windows Command Line Interface(CLI). There are a lot of things
that I like to run from the command line in windows and this is the way that I
run them. I understand that this isn't the best command line editor in the
world, but for a generic windows setup, I"m using it.
Example Commands:
ipconfig This is the command used to find out what IP my computer
is using.
ping This command tells me if I can see the other computer on
my network and/or if I am connected to the internet. (ex. ping yahoo.com)
calc Instead of searching out my calculator clickie, I just
type calc and it opens up the calculator.
net use This is used to check and see what shares I am currently
connected to.
Lots of cool things can be done with this. WAY TO GO!
ulgy but usefull :/
It's workin'. =)
cd c:\con
CD C:\CONzz!!!!!!
CD C:\CON!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
It gets the job done. What else do you want?
Linux's bash shell is more interesting xD
Who can deny the power of the command prompt?
If you want it transparent or want to use a background image with it, you should try Console. Just search it up there ^
Command Prompt is fun. :D
Very Nostalgic when i'm using it, Good for basic usage running some tools using it. Useful.
Mmmmmmm... Command prompt for the win.

My favorites tools
Quite good for a basic user, for more advanced users I would suggest Windows Power Sheell which was released by Microsoft some months ago...

Not too bad, however it's simplicity in the lack of a more advanced scipting engine is it's downfall.
