The 27th most popular anti-virus tool on Windows
Windows Live OneCare, previously known as Windows OneCare Live and formerly code-named A1, is a computer security service developed by Microsoft for some of its Windows operating systems. It has been announced for termination in favor of a completely free full security suite. It is incompatible with Windows 7 and support is being phased out for Vista. It was initially a subscription service, but could be bought at a store, and had a variegated and not very easy UI.… More Edit

A very bad anti-virus program. I trusted it for about a year, then I downloaded a few other anti-viruses, and found that I had about fifty viruses. It was kept up to date and everything. I wouldn't trust it alone.
Resource hog on my windows system, replaced with Cloud Antivirus programs
This is my favorite complete antivirus application. It uses far less resources than its competitors. Too bad it's one of the many application being phased out my Microsoft this year.
I SAY NAO!!!
Now depreciated, Windows Live OneCare will soon be replaced by the free Microsoft Security Essentials (http://wakoopa.com/software/microsoft-security-essentials) encompassing a new free anti-virus application along with the existing anti-spyware application Windows Defender. I have 3 computers in my circle all fully secured from the comfort of my armchair. It must be good because Microsoft are getting shot of it in the summer for a freebie product. They obviously made good money from it. If the defrag tool was more thorough it would get 5 for performance. Norton have only just managed to come up with something equal to this product and as light on the resources.
OneCare is a breath of fresh air in the anti-virus-anti-spyware world. Impressively it runs silently in the background doing it's best not to drain your system resources. It's monthly tune up feature is fantastic too. Without even a whisper OneCare defrags, backsup, updates and scans your computer without you even noticing. Live One Care is what antivirus software should be!
Easy and simple, this is a great improvement. I like it a lot.
With most Microsoft products the later versions get a little more refined and work better. Live One Care is no exception to this rule. The first version 1.0 took up WAY too many resources and didn't run in the background nearly as nice. 2.0 has improved drastically on this.
There is a very low footprint in the background process. However, when the "weekly" maintenance runs I tend to have to ignore my computer during those moments. Though they tend to be quick, I do have to watch my monitor to make sure things are working the best they can.
I also have a slight problem with the booting up of my machine and One Care. It appears that with a lot of system resources being utilized (ie. databsaes, development environments, etc) it always sees an error. Eventually the systems normalizes and it goes back to a green status, but it can be a little nerve wracking when you see it. All in all a good program with very little footprint into your life.
This is a pretty awesome Antivirus program.
It integrates into your Windows and gives you really good features like Backing up you files and Defragmenting your hard disks once a week.
It doesn't slow down your PC and works pretty great.
Great AV product. It is lightweight and catches the most common viruses (which is all I have to deal with on my machine). The automatic tune-up is great for busy people and the price is right ($20 for 3 PC's for one year).
Very nice. One thing I don't like, is that I bought protection for 3 PCs, but I had to give the same Windows Live ID, which isn't a very good option, since I would be giving my friend my hotmail's password. But we found a way around it.
quite good AVG is better in my opinion, it detects viruses well, although even when the trial is up it will keep promting you to subscribe
and i'd rather just use avg than subscribe
Microsoft done alright for once (Y)
Easy to use, and simply the greatest software for your computer. It protects your computer from 99% of viruses out there. I'm only saying 99% so I can leave a margin of error... but this really is a great tool and a must have.
Using it for a year and a half now, great stuff. Helps me manage the security and backup of my parents computer, who live elsewhere, as well
