What can you say about it? If you want your Windows System to be as secure as possible, as well as efficient and fast as possible with every feature set available to you, you need the Service Packs. And they are easy to install, they just usually take awhile.
Just installed SP2 for Vista and it was fast with no problems at all.

Installer and Uninstaller for Windows XP Service Packs...
Sp1 is ok, but the installer is very very slow with somewhere up to 5 reboots.
