The 257th most popular messenger on Windows

It's Gizmo VOIP Client Installer for windows. Gizmo5 (formerly known as Gizmo Project) is the name of a peer-to-peer VoIP network and of a proprietary freeware soft phone for that network.

Gizmo Project was founded by Michael Robertson.[1] Unlike its competitor network Skype, the Gizmo5 network uses open standards for call management, Session Initiation Protocol and XMPP[2]. But it uses several proprietary codecs, and like Skype, the Gizmo5 client is proprietary/closed source software. Gizmo5 knowledgebase reveals that they support a handful of codecs, including the GIPS iSAC, the wideband adaptive codec made popular by Skype. Gizmo5 is run by the company SIPphone.

Since Gizmo5 is based on SIP, it can inter-operate with other SIP-based networks directly, including the phone company systems. (CallOut / CallIn to the latter usually involve charges, whereas calls to other VoIP users are generally free of cost.) As some setup data will always be routed via central SIPphone-servers, such SIP registrars and network access are arguably a potential cost from an absolute privacy and security ideal.[citation needed] Gizmo also uses encryption (SRTP) for Gizmo to Gizmo calls and works well with Phil Zimmermann's new Zfone secure add on.[3]
