The 176th most popular messenger on Windows
… More EditWinMX is a classic P2P file sharing application that was developed and released by the now defunct Frontcode Technologies. Dispite the fact that the developer has closed off access to the official peer caches and shut down their website, there are other options for getting the client connected to the still very much alive network and thereby making it still a usable application for file sharing. One option is to edit your HOSTS file to point to the new privatly run peer caches. Another option is a .dll patch that not only connects you to the network, but filters out fake files from searches. The users are now in control of the network and all matters related to running it, expanding it, developing applications for it, and giving each other technical support through various outlets of the WinMX community.

Filebox Extender is not compatible with WinMX. If you are having issues with running WinMX, such as a blank window, the program hanging while loading the library, or just crashing, and you are running Filebox Extender, too, you will have to add WinMX.exe to the exclude list. Once you do that, it will run just fine.
