A mysterious new application

Woot is an Internet retailer based in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton, Texas. Woot was the pioneer of the "one deal a day" business model on the internet. Woot's main website generally offers only one discounted product each day, often a piece of computer hardware or an electronic gadget. Other Woot sites offer one original t-shirt per day, two selections of wine per week, and one closeout deal per day.

Their RSS feed is agravating--it's full of their bloated, one-note comedy, with no prices given. Plus they throw in all these extraneous posts in an attempt to "create community". I want to glance at the feed for the product and the price; they put barriers in the way of that.

Other than that irritation, there are sometimes some definite real deals which makes it worthwhile to check. The comment section is open (ignore the "Quality Posts" section) and uncensored -- reading the first 2 or 3 pages will give you a clear idea of whether the daily deal is really up to snuff. You can safely ignore the goofy description and daily goofy podcast as well.

Tip: If you don't hear about a deal directly from Woot, you'll hear about it from TechCrunch or one of its affiliated sites.

The shirts are epic and they always have good deals. I bought a 42" HDTV from them for like 2/3 of what the average price was

I totally love Woot! Although it features the occasional poor product or marketing mistake (ex. Roomba on end), they have a really great business model. (Especially their BoCs)

As a bargain hunter, I am a huge fan of Woot! Sure, they aren't all winners but you can't please everyone all of the time. When it's good, it's great and the anticipation of "what will be next!?!" is what really drives the site.

Used to be actually decent, now it is just Roomba after Roomba. Wish they had more interesting products at better prices.

Woot! was actually a recommendation for be from Wakoopa and boy, I can hardly describe how grateful I am that is was. Woot! is a great concept and offers some good deals. It's like NewEgg, except for everything else and with only one insane deal a day.

While Woot's sales are usually a miss, you can sometimes find something you might need/really want for cheap. Also the woot-offs are a lot of fun and the BOC is always a challenge to get.
