Workrave is a software application intended to prevent computer users from developing or aggravating occupational diseases such as carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries. The software periodically locks the screen while an anime character walks the user through various stretching exercises and urges them to take a coffee break. The program depends on the GTK+ libraries, and will function on Microsoft Windows or any operating system running X11.

I installed it about one year ago after suffering a bad computer-related injury and I like it a lot, as it forces me to take more breaks and relax

Same comment than Luke though: I found it annoying at first, but I fixed that by muting WR, with longer time intervals between breaks

    Here are my settings:
    micro-break every 20 mn
    rest break every 1 hour

Try with default settings and extend the time between breaks until you feel it's right for you!

I found it annoying, but after setting it on quiet mode it wasn't in my face all the time, however I often don't notice that it's time for a coffee break. What are your settings? Maybe mine are allowing for too many breaks, and micro-breaks. Micro-breaks annoy me the most.

I have this running in the background all day long. It helps in reminding me that there's a world outside the computer. :D
Lately though I've not been faithfully following my break schedules. I just keep on hitting Skip now when I can't be bothered to do some exercise. :P
