The 3rd most popular text editor/IDE on Mac OS X
ShareXcode is Apple's suite of tools for developing software on Mac OS X. Is bundled free with Mac OS X, though is not installed by default. The latest version is always available for free from Apple Developer Connection. The main application of the suite is the integrated development environment (IDE), also named Xcode. The Xcode suite also includes most of Apple's developer documentation, and Interface Builder, an application used to construct graphical interfaces. The Xcode suite includes the free software GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), and can compile C, C++, Objective-C, Objective-C++, Java, and AppleScript, source code with a variety of programming models, including but not limited to Cocoa, Carbon, and Java. Third parties have added support for GNU Pascal,[2] Free Pascal[3], Ada[4] and Perl[5]. The Xcode suite uses GDB as the back-end for its debugger.… More Edit

great for app development!
A great development application. =)
I'm currently working through a couple of books learning Objective-C and then some Cocoa specific stuff, but so far the tool is really easy to learn, and really helpful to the learning process.
good one!
Running 3.2.1 in Snow Leopard is great. The UI is far more intuitive and it feels more powerful.
I love Xcode, especially the Snow Leopard version. It's a huge improvement from the regular Leopard version. At least the editor error reporting.
So far I've been using this IDE on OSX and I find it way better than as good as any IDE I tried on Windows as well as OSX.
Good IDE, but lacks the pluging api
An almost perfect development environment. Powerful, yet easy to get into. Yet it's free...
This is a really good tool, but I think Eclipse has better automated refactoring. Refactoring support in Xcode is pretty minimal. However the performance tools are great, and Eclipse's profiler doesn't even work on the mac.
The only IDE which really has the "Mac look", it's simple, easy to use, fast and has a lot of features(still lacks one or another feature), but overall it's the best IDE for the Mac OS(and one of the best IDE in all platforms). And it comes free with your Mac!
Ratings are based on 8 hours of usage. I have just started programming in Objective-C and this is the first and only IDE I have ever used. Very straight foward so far and I have not encountered any of the crashes mentioned in the other comments I have read
A very good, simple and with a lot of features IDE for Mac!
Flawless in comparison to Visual Studio, In Price and Features, Complete with the shineyness of OS X
Clearly the best IDE software available for the Mac.
A wonderful IDE - very few complaints.
