The XPS Viewer EP is a standalone viewer for XPS (XML Paper Specification) documents. The XPS Essentials Pack also includes the XPS Document Writer for creating XPS documents along with providers to enable the iPreview and iFilter capabilities used by Windows Desktop Search. In addition, shell handlers are provided to enable thumbnail views and file properties for XPS documents in Windows Explorer. The XPS Viewer EP is distinct from the browser integrated XPS Viewer that is included with the .NET Framework 3.0.
