It can sometimes be helpful, but most of the time the answers and/or questions can be either just stupid or funny (or both o.O)
Lots of stupid.
I mean, the website itself is just fine... but some of the questions and answers exchanged there are hilariously awful. Somethingawful.com's Y.A. weekend web articles are what comes to mind.

I really like the point system as it motivates users to answer questions in a productive way. However, so many questions come from people who are too lazy to just Google it. It's a great way to get your questions answered though or just to poll a few people to recommend a new movie to watch or book to read.
This is the place for people who can't use google.... but seriously, more than half of the questions has already been answered in google.
If you're looking to get some answers, ask a question, or find out about something, then Yahoo Answers is your best bet.
