My experience regarding the Zdesktop.
Pros: It packs plenty of features. It is free! Very, very customizable. Options in the UI,themes, features and integration in form of zimlets. I am no pro- but it seems like the dev team is really working and they are supporting this product well. If they can perfect it, it might just set the standard as the email/task/cm//// everything client of the future. I love having options and more than one way to do things and that is what zimbra delivers.
I Love thunderbird too but have dealt with so many errors and lag up when launching etc.
The ride with zimbra has been smooth except for one problem I will mention below.
Cons: It can be a memory hog. If you are too lazy to look for log or check their faq or wiki you would probably just assume it is bloated like I-tunes (lol). If you shut down the back end service, this should help. Check their wiki too for a quick rundown.
Verdict: I would definitely recommend the Zimbra Desktop to most people. Although it is fairly UI friendly and straight forward to use, people who are new to pc world or just not smart enough to fix a simple error will probably think the memory hog error or back end thing is too much. Once they solidly fix this or just make it more apparent to new users, it will be a solid desktop email/calendar utility. Then, again if your reading this on wakopa your probably know what your doing. So, just try it.
