Ryo, aargh! No need to apologize ... MySQL's default search limit of string
length <= 3 characters tripped me up: I searched for "ryo" but
couldn't find you! (I'll file a bug.)
After Twitter having problems, I'm mainly on friendfeed. For short notices
however, I use identi.ca. It's fast, future-proof and it's basis (laconica) is
open source. Everything you want.
i use ping.fm to post to all the networks, i have notices sent to my email
for each one. if i get a direct reply or reply i'll reply, but other than that,
i hop on friendfeed and occasionally browse the microblogs.
Haven't actively used Twitter in a very long time. I came to identi.ca from
Jaiku (though I'm currently 'on a break' from microblogging in general). Love
the identi.ca project though, it's like Twitter but with a better community and
I fully support the open source philosophy. :)
I'm an avid Denter, and I use Identi.ca's bridge to Twitter to get stuff over
there. When the reverse bridge is turned on, I'll probably start reading people
on Twitter again too.
To answer my own question: I use Twitter almost exclusively passively now
(read every now and then), and then mostly via FriendFeed and/or Bloglines. The
only exception is if I must reach someone I don't have an email address for but
has a Twitter account.
I'm very glad to see three people have already signed up - but the more the
merrier, so spread the word.
Just out of curiosity and to hopefully spark off some discussion: do you use
Twitter as well? actively (posting) or only passively? via a bridge from another
network (like identi.ca) or directly?
OK, ticket filed: http://laconi.ca/trac/ticket/765
