I've purchased a Wacom Bamboo tablet being a beginner myself and have since
fallen more in love with it with each use. My roommate's 5yo was even able to
pick up the stylus and instantly begin using it as if she had been doing so for
a long time. Inexpensive and easy-to-use, its by far one of my smartest
purchases when it comes to computer hardware.

I get a lot of online help on blender.. . I cant find time to learn all of it
though :). Just wanted to know about the professionals.. What you prefer and
what you do actually.

I use Maya for modeling with Mental Ray for rendering. I prefer it over
3DSMax, but you should try both of them and see which one you have most ease
with.
Sketchup is also a good choice when making architectural modeling, and
it's easier to use.
