Because that sort of software is better, it is developing and free (mostly in money, all in mind)! We support open source software. It's generally well designed, OS-friendly (no extra use of Windows Registry, no excess use of free space, CPU and memory sources. Many many developers around the world help and support, they develop every day this kind of software. It's developing everyday by these generous programmers! Thanks them a lot and support them! Free but closed source software is not bad at all too ;)

I have a license Microsoft Office ( Small Business Edition ) that came with a Dell. I don't use it. All the computers in the house use OpenOffice.
I would use openoffice if it didn't run like crap salad on OS X
I'm not sure how this team can call itself the 'Open Source' team. Most of its used applications are Closed Source. Come on guys, Micro$oft Office? what about OpenOffice.org and Adobe Photoshop? what about The GIMP.
