Most macs sold recently are intel based. And Snow Leopard will still not
install on most intel based computers, at least without having to work around
the limitation of Apple attempting to only allow it to run on hardware that they
sold you.
@coldReactive - Agreed and a good point. Although I see that more of a
compatibility issue rather than Microsoft attempting to force you to buy
specific hardware which they profit from, unlike Apple. In my mind it is two
completely different things
@coldReactive - a great point many people over look. I'm confident that if
you could easily (key word here, I know it is possible but it is too involved
for most average computer users) install it on any computer, you'd see a price
increase. But, they attempt to only allow it to run on their highly marked up
hardware. I'm still surprised they haven't be slaughtered on court for that.
Imagine if Microsoft attempted to do a similar hardware restraint with
Windows.
Just my opinion - I am a fan of 10.5/10.6 (mostly because its built on
linux). I use Windows, Ubuntu (desktop & server), Red Hat and Snow Leopard
on a near daily basis and I do like them all.

However, PPC is the mac hardware since back in the OS6 days.

Macs themselves (the hardware) are overpriced, so it isn't really less.
Windows is too overpriced... Glad I use Mac OS X.
Bas De Jong, I'd rather not pirate software, especially since I stopped doing it in 2007.
@colreactive offcourse im not going to pay for windows i downloaded it. ( duh :P )
@9091 I tried it in VMWare. I can't really imagine using it on a netbook. I think its too slim/basic and would drive me crazy
PROTIP: Get server 2008 R2 from dreamspark for FREE. And mod it to becoming windows 7 with this http://www.win2008r2workstation.com/
Bas de Jong, I'm glad you find such an expensive OS is fine for you. If you got it free, then you're not that good of a guy.
