Fast and lightweight, while still visually appealing and easy to use
Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for various *NIX systems. Designed for productivity, it loads and executes applications fast, while conserving system resources. Xfce embodies the traditional UNIX philosophy of modularity and re-usability. It consists of a number of components that together provide the full functionality of the desktop environment. Parole Media Player has made me come to this team from GNOME. Thanks XFCE!
@Double12 - and just you wait what version 4.8 will have to offer ;-)
(Well, at least drag 'n drop to the panel, and home network support in Thunar, yay!)
Cool that there's an Xfce team now. Yesterday when I looked, it hadn't been created yet! ;)
I'm always using Xfce on my desktop. Xfce is making small improvements every version. 4.6 is great, but not realy that different from 4.4. The devs changed a lot under the hood, though. And don't forget that they are creating this whole desktop environment with just a small team.
I just recently started using XFCE again after a jump to KDE for 4ish years and i am really glad I did. The performance is so much better with the features added in the last few years.
Great Desktop Environment, I love it!
